Dr. Nichols is a family physician with a dual career in primary care practice and health technology innovation. He trained at Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Texas School of Public Health, and the Franklin Square Family Medicine residency program. As an independent contractor, he treats adults and children through five of the leading commercial direct-to-consumer telemedicine services. Dr. Nichols contributes clinical leadership to projects developing foundational open-source capabilities at the intersection of telehealth, big data, and the consumerization of health care delivery. He advises startup companies based out of the Emerging Tech Centers incubation program about the Maryland health policy environment and the burgeoning digital transformation in health care. Dr. Nichols is the 2017-18 Primary Care Innovation Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
