Lisa Tompkins-Brown has served at MITRE for over 12 years and has more than 25 years of deep healthcare and business management experience spanning strategy, leadership, health IT, healthcare quality and policy, and large-scale acquisitions. Ms. Tompkins-Brown was the first healthcare expert representing MITRE to receive the Heroines in Technology Award, presented by the March of Dimes in collaboration with AFCEA (The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association). Prior to working at MITRE, Ms. Tompkins-Brown worked at Northrop Grumman and Standard Technology to advance healthcare through technological solutions. She has also worked in care delivery settings, including Children’s National Medical Center, and she is on the Board of Directors for The George Washington University Hospital Women’s Board, Inc.
Ms. Tompkins-Brown served for many years as an adjunct professor at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, teaching a course on the Healthcare Enterprise and Health Informatics. In May 2015, the U.S. Navy named her an honorary member of the Medical Service Corps as an Ensign with full rights and responsibilities, an honor rarely given to civilians. Ms. Tompkins-Brown is a recognized and sought-after speaker and has presented at numerous local, state, national, and international conferences on various healthcare topics, including physician health IT adoption and person-centered care.
Ms. Tompkins-Brown holds a B.S. in Biology and M.S. degrees in Healthcare Administration and Business Administration.
