Steve’s career has centered around building and leading non-profit organizations, achieving consensus in complex situations, and driving change through technology on a global scale. He leads MITRE’s Health Standards and Interoperability Group and is launching the CodeX HL7 FHIR Accelerator program to drive implementation of a common language for cancer data (mCODE). Prior to joining MITRE, Steve served as CEO of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and Foundation, as CTO and President of Standards at GS1, and in other technology leadership roles in industry, government and international organizations. He holds a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
