Luz E. Mahecha-Martinez, M.P.H., is a Social and Health Behavior Scientist with expertise in patient-provider communication. She identifies the needs of patients to communicate and become active participants in their healthcare. Ms. Mahecha-Martinez is currently leading a research study on the use of decision analysis for the selection of chronic pain treatments. She is also a Co-Principal Investigator for a study aiming to empower patients with multiple chronic conditions by leveraging health information technology. Ms. Mahecha-Martinez earned an M.P.H. in Behavioral and Community Health and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering.
